Gruelling (also Grueling) House Hunt

Today, we looked at 7 rental properties in about 3.5 hours... on foot - and let me tell you, the lovely city of Manly has some very steep hills! This whole process is rather frustrating because everyone seems to want to live in Manly and things are gone before you can blink an eye. The property we liked the most, of course, had about 20 people there to view it today. Then whoever likes it puts in an application and the owner of the property gets to browse through the stack of applications to pick whoever strikes their fancy... and if you don't get picked, they never tell you why. Also, after last Saturday's round of house hunting, we had to up the price range of properties we were viewing. In Australia, they advertise the rent price per week (I guess to keep you from fainting). I won't even mention the weekly price because all but those who have looked for places in California or London, perhaps, might require smelling salts to revive them.

But at the end of the day, we put in two applications on properties that were decent. Hopefully we will know by Monday if we were rejected or accepted... and if both were rejected, guess I will start the process over again Tuesday while my husband is galivanting (ok, I guess work training doesn't count as galivanting) around in Singapore.

Cheerio!

think we have found something, but we can't move in til July 15 because there was a 'fault' in the new kitchen so they have to tear it out and redo it! :O

Does that mean you have to live in a hotel until then? That won't be fun. But, it sounds like you'll get a new kitchen! By the way, have you heard of Toowoomba? It's a town somewhere in Australia, where a friend of ours grew up.

We are in a studio apt that is rather stinky, but has a big spa tub and washer/dryer and kitchen. But at least I only have to stay til July 6 when I leave for Texas! YEA! Then poor Mark has to deal with it. I have heard of Toowoomba! Great name, eh? I just looked it up and it is west of Brisbane up in Queensland. We were briefly in Brissy, but didn't make it to Toowoomba.
