Spelunking... I like that word!

There are many caves around the Margaret River area in south western Australia. Mark and I both enjoy exploring them, so we decided to get the pass to go to three different ones. These included Mammoth Cave, Lake Cave & Jewel Cave.

This first picture is in Mammoth Cave. These caves are relatively young compared to many in the world (although still REALLY old) and as a result of that, have a lot more of the really skinny stalactites that are called straws. This second picture is in Lake Cave that had a lovely large body of water in it and this amazing bit here - if you can see, these two columns at one time would have been joined on to this bit at the bottom, which would have been the floor of the cave... but now it is hanging and there was a bit of clearance between it and the body of water. Under the right column you can kinda see the reflection in the water below. I thought it was quite spectacular. :)
