Snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef

Last Tuesday, we headed from Sydney up to Cairns where we spent a little time and then drove our rental car up the coast to Port Douglas. Port Douglas is a small beach town where many tour companies depart to go to the Great Barrier Reef. We chose Quicksilver because I knew it had lots for us to do. After an hour and a half ride out to Agincourt Reef (part of the outer reef of the Great Barrier Reef), we docked on Quicksilver's pontoon and took one of the semi-submersible submarines where you can get a nice view of the reef without even getting wet. Then we did a bit of snorkelling. Neither Mom nor Dad had ever snorkelled before and they both did great. Mom stayed to the well marked rope path, while Dad and I snorkelled out a bit farther. Below are Dad and me in our lovely snorkelling lycra suits.
