What an Opening!

Yesterday we were lucky enough to get free tickets to go to the Opening Ceremonies of the Commonwealth Games. And they were excellent seats. We were really close and had a great view of the show and the queen! This was after the athletes of the 71 countries of the Commonwealth had walked in. I really enjoyed that part and seeing all the countries... including at least 3 I had never heard of! You can see the athletes here standing around the white centre stage.

In this second picture, you can see the Queen's Baton being presented to the Queen. She is at the top left with her light outfit & hat. The man presenting the baton is John Landy, the first Australian and 2nd man ever to break a 4 minute mile. He is now the govenor of Victoria, Australia. It was overal a very entertaining night!

A.S., I'm surprised at you, using the English "centre" instead of our, more practical spelling. I bet you've even stopped saying "y'all." Looks like a really great show, though.
Don't worry - I'll never quit saying y'all... I do find spelling it as centre to be rather fun, for some reason...
