Baby Needs a New Pair of Shoes
Today was an adventure. We decided to book our Vatican City tour for today, as the Pope comes out and waves to the public and such on Wednesdays... however, we found out this was not the best plan.......... Especially for the 1st Wednesday of Italian summer holiday.... It was INSANE!!!!
We had to take the underground train to the main station to switch lines to get on the line going to the Vatican City... as we got there it was insanely packed with people... We waited many people deep as packed trains came through and a few people piled on each train, but not many could fit so it took awhile before we were up to the yellow line right at the front to get on the train...
Another fairly packed train shows up and a very small Italian man behind me seems to be the pushiest in the bunch, but the whole crowd like absolutely pushes us on... Ang gets pushed on and almost fell in and got elbowed in the eye... I was pushed on by the small Italian man and in the process he knocked my flip flop between the small gap between the train and platform but of course it was gone... I couldn't have bent over for it even if it wasn't several feet down on the ground... I'm on and realize Tami is not... so I reach over and grab her arm while some man says something about me doing that but I'm like 'SHE's WITH US' and pull her in... Then it was crazily packed for at least a few stops... We were all touched in several inappropriate places. And of course I am now missing a shoe... lovely...
It wasn't quite so crazy packed once we got off the train... but I let most of the crowd exit before following, so I wouldn't get my foot smashed... about a block from where we came out, we found a little stand selling shoes so I got a new pair for €6 (fairly cute, but fairly painful after a day of walking) and threw away my lone flop. :)
But no worries - we made the day and are almost back at the hotel... all in one piece and all wearing shoes. The Sistine Chapel was packed, but amazing... St. Peter's Basilica was gorgeous... and then we also went to another smaller church later where we saw Michelangelo's sculpture of Moses with horns.
Now it is time for a quick dinner at this cheap great place we went to last night and then home to wash and soak my feet. heehee Tomorrow we have an early flight out to London!!
Arrividerci, Italia!

I am sorry you lost a flop!!!! Did you take a picture of the inappropriately touching guys? I will go beat them up. I MISS YOU!!
Your Hubby.
No, I didn't get a picture of the guys! Too bad!
Well of course - my flip was on the right foot and flop was on the left! :D And thanks for the help with the beating up!
Are you going to be able to spend any more time with the W's? I hear they are back in town.
I am so glad you were able to see the Moses with horns and leave Rome with shoes!!!
Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the W's again. :( It was a whirlwind trip back to Texas for less than 24 hrs and now I am finally back in Australia and trying to get my body adjusted! I will have my pics out ASAP!
